Kerry Gold is based in Vancouver, where she was born and raised, and where she now covers housing and real estate for The Globe and Mail. As a weekly columnist for the last 15 years, she has covered the city's affordable housing crisis, the growing disparity between rich and poor, speculation and investment, the inflow of foreign wealth as well as displacement and renoviction issues. She was one of the first journalists in B.C. to report on the impact of foreign money. She's a regular guest on radio and panel discussions.
In her past life, she was a music critic at the Vancouver Sun for a decade, and also co-wrote Michael Buble's best-selling memoir, Onstage Offstage. Kerry has interviewed legends Ray Charles, Lou Reed, Brian Wilson, and many others. She has co-written and ghostwritten several books.
Kerry is a proud member of the BC Métis Federation.
