Josie is a journalist from Vancouver who has spent the better part of the last four years completing an undergraduate degree in international relations and political science at the University of Toronto. There, she served as news editor and then as editor-in-chief of The Varsity, the university’s student paper of record, where she led coverage of the mental health crisis, the Student Choice Initiative and COVID-19. For her editorial work combined with her efforts to improve equity at The Varsity, she was named the 2019 John H. McDonald Student Journalist of the Year. She’s interested in covering marginalized communities as well as the hyper-local effects of international news. You can also find her work in Canadaland.
