James Griffiths is the Asia correspondent for The Globe and Mail. Based in Hong Kong, he has reported from countries across the region, including Japan, China, India and Qatar. Prior to joining The Globe, James spent more than five years with CNN International, where he was a senior producer, covering stories such as the 2019 Hong Kong protests, the Easter Sunday bombings in Sri Lanka, and the Korean peace process. He is the author of two books, The Great Firewall of China: How to Build and Control an Alternative Version of the Internet, and Speak Not: Empire, Identity, and the Politics of Language.
