Evan Annett
StaffDigital presentation editor (news)Toronto

Evan Annett is an expert in structural editing for the discerning digital reader, with a focus on visual journalism and explainers.

When Globe and Mail reporters tell stories with photography, graphics, video or custom interactive features, Evan builds article pages that weave visuals and text together in the most immersive and informative way possible. He has won several gold and silver Digital Publishing Awards for this work and has built many of The Globe’s Michener- and National Newspaper Award-nominated stories.

When Globe readers need to be caught up quickly on complex issues in the news, Evan designs and curates explainers in the “what we know so far” style he invented in the mid-2010s, drawing on years of prior experience as a Globe copy editor.

Evan grew up in Ottawa, where he had stints at the Ottawa Citizen and Hill Times. He is an alumnus of Carleton University’s College of Humanities and of the Charlatan student newspaper, whose history he chronicled in the 2005 book You Charlatans. His passions are history, comic books and cinema.
