You hate yourself for laughing, you really do, but sometimes the crazy little clips on this long-running show are just too funny. It's easy to forget about this goofy series, America's Funniest Home Videos has been on the air for 19 years, but it's worth rediscovering, if only because it's one of the few TV shows that's guaranteed to elicit belly laughs from both parents and kids. In fact, families have been the series main supplier of embarrassing scenes. Launched when the popularity of VHS camcorders was at its height, AFHV is still going strong in the age of video phones. The hosts have changed over the years, connecting the random collection of slapstick with corny jokes and silly grins. But it's all just filler before the next great "oh, that's gotta hurt" scenario. Producers have become more inventive over the years, too. After receiving one too many "scared in the shower" scenes, the show recently put up a split screen and host Tom Bergeron asked viewers to guess how many screaming-in-the-shower clips would play before the golden retriever in the other window chewed through a balloon. Silly, but a good laugh, and nicely scheduled before bedtime.
