A woman in her 30s who was stabbed in the neck at a Chinatown restaurant last week has died days later, police said Monday.
The woman was without vital signs when emergency responders rushed her to a Toronto trauma centre but was later expected to survive after she underwent surgery.
Detective Anthony Williams said the case has been handed over to homicide detectives since the woman's death.

Police and medical responders were called to the Chinese restaurant on Dundas Street just west of Spadina Avenue at 2:14 p.m. last Wednesday. Police said she was injured in the restaurant's kitchen.
Initially, police arrested a man in his late 50s who was believed to be the woman's co-worker. Charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault were pending last week and it's unclear if they were upgraded after the woman's death.
Also on Monday, Peel police announced a second arrest in the stabbing death of 19-year-old Kevin Pham, who died in hospital last Wednesday. Police said Elon Washington Brooks, 19, turned himself in on Sunday and now faces second-degree murder charges. A 17-year-old young offender also faces second-degree murder charges in the case, police said.
