In one of the more unusual instances of transit vandalism, Toronto police are looking for a young man who hurled a bicycle into the path of an ongoing train at a downtown subway station earlier this month, shutting down service and causing a fire.
Three men, one of them wheeling a bicycle, walked into the Bathurst station May 1 at around 1:15 a.m., police said, The trio headed down to the westbound platform, and shortly before a train pulled in the bicycle was thrown on to the tracks, close to the electrically charged third rail.
A fire ensued, power to the train was cut off and all passengers had to disembark until emergency personnel cleared up the wreckage.
