An 18-year-old Toronto man wanted in a weekend shooting that left another teen wounded has surrendered to police and is to appear in court Tuesday on charges that include attempted murder.

Jevaun Anthony Beharie turned himself in at 12 Division shortly before 9.p.m., Constable Victor Kwong said.

The victim was shot in the abdomen outside a home on Woolner Avenue, near Jane Street and St. Clair Avenue, early Sunday morning. He is recovering in hospital.

Mr. Beharie is alleged to have approached the youth, pulled a handgun and shot him once. Police say he then chased the victim on foot, firing several more shots, before fleeing.

He is charged with attempted murder and a total of seven weapons-related offences.

The shooting was one of several recent outbreaks of violence incidents in the city that have left young males dead or wounded.

Later Tuesday morning, detectives will give an update on the Sunday night killing of 15-year-old Jarvis Montaque in Rexdale.
