A four-year-old girl who was found unconscious at a swimming pool in a Vaughan, Ont., earlier this week has died from her injuries.

York Regional Police confirmed on Friday that the young girl, who was part of kid's camp at the Pavilion Fitness Club, had died at hospital earlier in the day.

Sergeant Clint Whitney of the York Regional Police said the office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario is conducting an investigation into the girl's death. He added that the homicide department will stay involved in the investigation because of a provincial mandate that requires it to investigate the deaths of all children under five years old.
